Looking for information on the Thomas Merritt family from York County, SC. Thomas was married to Rebecca. They had 4 children: Margaret Lucinda, Mary S.,
Hannah J. and Charles E. Margaret was my great-grandmdother and died in 1890. Looking for and information about the family. |

I restore cemeteries and am currently working in Fort Mill, SC. Are your ancestors buried in York County? If so, I would be glad to go by and try to find their grave markers and photograph them for you.

My dad was Thomas M Merritt, from SC,(york Co) he was born 1880, his dad was Charles Bowman,married Olivia Ann Garrison, he died oct 1929, she died Dec 22 1932. This must be connected either by brother or graqndfather? I hope I helped. Lola Chambers |

I am looking for info of Merritt's of SC, Ala and KY... My g-grandmother was Novel Eudy b. 1880 d. 10 Sept 1949 daughter of Julia P. Merritt of Ala. b. abt 1860 d. 24 Oct 1894, Daniel Eudy b. Apr 1859 d. 1902. I think her dad was from SC and her mom Ky, but not sure any help would be appreciated. |

Tina: I just received your posting. Unfortunatelly, I have not been successful with my Merritt's as I have not been able to spend any time with research this past year. I have only been able to go as far back as my gg-grandfather Thomas. Although he and Rebecca had several children, they had no children by the name your are searching for. Good luck. |

I WAS LOOKING AT THE CENSUS FOR FORT MILL SC IN 1860 AND CAME ACROSS A THOMAS MERRITT (35) SPOUSE- REBECCA (35) CHILDREN: MARY S. (12), MARGARET L (10), HANSILE (6) AND CHARLES E. (3). IS THESE IN YOUR LINE? |

Re: Thomas Merritt''s from SC  Annie: For the first time in months and months, I looking on the search board for a reply, I don't get many on Thomsas. And yes, these are my relatives. Unfortunately, I have no further information going back - even going forward was difficult when I had more research time. I know some about Charles E - and that info is out there - but haven't traced down any of his children. Charles lived in Monette, AR - his sister Margaret lifed in Black Oak, where she died at an early age. If you have any info, get back to me and I'll try to get on sooner.

The Merritt family is Thomas, married to Rebecca Johnson. Their daughter Margaret married Harvey Spell Kimbrell. I'm the Kimbrell/Merritt line. Margaret was my great grandmother. She died in 1890 in Black Oak, Arkansas.
I live in California. It wasn't until 1969 that my father found out that the family was from SC and not Georgia. His father died when he was 2 and we did not know much about the family on either side. I think my g'mother did but just never said anything. I even found out that Margaret's brother lived next door to her in AR.
Anyway, one of these days, I hope to get back into my research.

I hope this message reaches you as the answer to your question is Yes, this is my line - Thomas, Rebecca and Margaret L is my great grandmother. I know a bit about Charles E - her brother, but not much else about the family. I would love to hear from you.
